Important Safety Information whilst onboard the vehicle.
When aboard a Flagfinders coach, your journey should always be relaxing, comfortable, and enjoyable. At the same time, we wish to maintain the safety of all our passengers while traveling with us. This why you should always take extra care when the vehicle is in motion to ensure your safety and the safety of those you are traveling with.
We have put together some handy tips to keep you safe whilst aboard a coach.
• Seatbelts are fitted and you are required by law to wear them at all times whilst the vehicle is in motion.
• There are handrails on board to assist you when boarding, disembarking, or moving through the vehicle. Children should not be allowed to walk down the gangways alone but always with adult supervision. If possible try to remain seated and avoid moving around the cabin of the coach whilst the vehicle is in motion. Not doing so is entirely at your own risk.
• If it is unavoidable and you do need to move about the cabin always maintain three points of contact to improve your stability.
• Be aware that the vehicle may need to change direction, or stop suddenly due to changes in traffic conditions.
• Keep the ganway clear at all times and Hand luggage should be kept in the overhead locker space, and not left in the walkway to avoid trip hazards.
• Try to time your movements for when the coach is on an open road, such as a dual-carriageway or motorway. This will be when the cabin is at its most stable, and the driver will be less likely to need to make rapid changes in direction.
• Listen out for passenger announcements from the driver on safety and vehicle stopping points.
3 Points of Contact
When standing or walking through the coach please ensure you always maintain 3 points of contact, i.e. feet spaced apart for balance and at least one hand holding on to available handles or seat backs. Use your body as a brace against seats if needed.
Fire Extinguisher - this is normally situated at the front of the vehicle. A Fire extinguisher is not to fight the fire but to assist passengers in escaping the vehicle.
First Aid Kit - This is normally situated at the front of the vehicle. However, we recommend that the teachers bring there own first aid kits with them due to specialist medication that may be required for the children.
Emergency Exits - Emergency exits are situated at the main front door, at the rear and half way down the vehicle. Red hammers are also dotted around the vehicle, which can be used to break corner windows/skylights to create an emergency exit. Please familiarise yourself to where your nearest exit will be.
NO Smoking - All vehicles are not smoking zones and this includes the use of e-cigarettes.
Toilets - If you require a vehicle with a toilet please notify the office at the point of booking.
No Food - No food to be consumed on the vehicles, Unless requested by the group organisers. Cleaning charges may apply.
Rubbish - Please try to take all rubbish with you at the end of each journey. For the comfort of all the passengers please do not take hot food or ice cream on board the coach.
What is expected/Zero Tolerance- We want all passengers to experience a relaxing safe journey. We have a duty of care to provide a safe and secure environment for passengers and drivers. Any abusive, threatening, or violent behaviour by any passenger towards other passengers or drivers could result in the termination of the trip.
Your Driver/s are responsible for the vehicle and passenger safety. Please follow their instructions at all times. If you are unsure of any aspect of the vehicle please ask the driver. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
